THE TABLE - JOE WHITESIDE
The Table is an online-blended ministry aimed at enriching the spiritual and social lives of LGBT+ college students in a welcoming, affirming, and Christ-centered space. Via Discord, the programming includes online hangouts, asynchronous weekly devotionals, online Bible discussion groups, and in-person social events.
The goal for this project is to provide a space where LGBT+ students an affirming space where both Christ and queerness are celebrated. The goal is to give a seat at the table to those who've been led to believe there is no room for them in the church and eventually connect them with affirming congregations near them for in-person participation. The Table seeks to foster social engagement, faith engagement, and more than that, discipleship, giving students the tools to know not just how to read the Bible, but to hear the voice of God in their own lives.
